WHAT EXACTLY IS CHEESE PUFF PASTRY?
Did you know in the French language, puff pastry is also known as Pâte Feuilletée or feuilletage? It is a very delicate and buttery dough that consists of many thin layers of buttery goodness. This is what gives puff pastry its light, crispy, and flaky texture upon baking.
Flavor: Buttery layered dough filled with semi-salty feta cheese or you can sprinkle a tiny bit of sugar over to make it slightly sweet (optional)
Texture: These Cheese Puff Pastries are simply just a GALORE of CHEESE GOODNESS in a flaky, buttery soft pastry!
Time: These cheesy bites are super fast and easy to make! They only take 15 minutes to prep and 15 minutes to bake!
HELPFUL TIPS AND TRICKS TO MAKE THESE BUTTERY CHEESE PUFF PASTRY BOREKS!
- Make sure your Puff Pastry is nice and Chilled when handling and this will allow them to rise before placing them into the oven to bake. The longer the dough sits out it will melt the butter and not allow your dough to rise and the outcome will be flat pastry dough.
- Don’t over-brush your egg wash over your dough. If you overbrush it with egg wash, it will taste more like egg cheese puff pastry. 😊
- Make sure not to undercook your cheese puff pastries. Sometimes your dough can look lightly golden brown and you think it’ll be ready but when you take it out it will deflate and flatten. Make sure to fully bake them until they are Golden Brown.
These Cheese Puff Pastry Pockets are so perfect, they’re great to take as a gift to a family and friend gatherings. Whenever I go places, I make sure to take my Nutella Puff Pastry Bites along with me!
