We had posted our Lemon Tahini Scones on our YouTube channel a while back and after receiving so many requests and messages for my Lemon Tahini Scones, we created the same recipe but with a Fall twist! So, I decided to come up with a Fall Scone recipe adding just a few extra ingredients and tweaking my recipe to this one! It came out very moist and oh-so-yummy! I promise you, it definitely will be a hit at your next holiday party!
Just remember, scones can often be quite dry and crumbly. However, I found that these scones are surprisingly moist! Thanks to the perfect ratio of tahini, butter and pumpkin puree, they have a wonderfully soft, moist and they still crumble. It strikes the ideal balance! They’re simply perfect!
We were so honored to partner up with Sadaf, who sent us their Sesame Tahini Paste to try out which we used in this recipe. I honestly loved the taste and texture of it and it made my scones extra special!

WHERE DID SCONES ORIGINALLY COME FROM?
English scones, often referred to as biscuits, are typically drizzled with frosting, jam, or cream on top. Our version is topped with a sprinkle of sugar and pecans, and filled with a rich butter tahini sauce and a zest of lemon.
Here’s a quick fact before we dive into the recipe: scones have their origins in Ireland, Scotland, and England, with the earliest versions dating back to Scotland in the early 1500s.
Scones originated as oat-based treats shaped into circles and baked over an open fire. Over time, bakers evolved the recipe, and today, people typically make scones with flour, shape them into triangles, and bake them in the oven.
WHAT IS TAHINI MADE OF?
Tahini or Tahina is a Middle-Eastern condiment paste made from sesame seeds and it is commonly eaten in a variety of different dishes. Here are a few of my favorites like Hummus, Babaganoush, and many more dishes! It is known to have a bitter taste to it, but once you combine it with the right ingredients it’s spectacular!

STEPS TO MAKE THESE MAPLE CINNAMON PUMPKIN TAHINI SCONES
💡Let’s go over some tips before we start to make the best scones! It’s important to keep Heavy Cream, Egg, and Butter chilled (keep them cold) while working with the dough. Once scones are formed, place them into the fridge for 15 minutes before baking. This keeps your dough nice and firm and chilled and helps your scones from overspreading while baking!
Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°. In a large bowl, mix your dry ingredients with a whisk.
Step 2: Cut your butter into small cubes and mix it into the dry ingredients using a Dough Blender or a fork, be careful not to overwork it. In a small bowl, beat 1 egg. Make a well in the center of the flour, then pour in the egg, heavy whipping cream, tahini (keep some for the topping), and pumpkin puree. Gently mix the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients, making sure not to over-mix!
Step 3: Crush walnuts with a Mortar and Pestle (save for the topping).
Step 4: After mixing everything thoroughly pour the mixture onto the counter. Next, form the dough into a ball and flatten it to a thickness of about 1 inch. After that, cut the dough with a Dough Knife Scraper into 4 equal parts, and layer them on top of each other, ensuring they are all aligned in the same direction. Subsequently, use the outer part of a medium-sized Springform pan and push down to flatten your dough with your fingertips. The thickness should measure approximately 1 inch. Finally, remove the Springform pan (see video) and cut the dough into 8 equal triangle pieces using your dough scraper.
Step 5: Brush a light coat of heavy cream over the top of your scones. Add crushed walnuts to the top of the dough, and push down the walnuts in their place. Place into the fridge for 15 minutes to firm the dough up before placing it into the oven.
Step 6: Start making your Maple Tahini Glaze – Add maple syrup, powdered sugar, and tahini and combine. Place into fridge to firm up if you’d like until the scones have baked.
Step 7: After refrigerating the scones for 15 minutes, sprinkle some sugar on the top and bake for 25-30 minutes, rotate the dish every 10 minutes until the edges become golden. After they have baked, allow them to cool off before enjoying them!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: MAPLE CINNAMON PUMPKIN TAHINI SCONES
Yes, after cutting the dough place the baking sheet into the freezer and allow your dough to freeze for an hour before handling and placing it into a freezer container or freezer bag. Thaw out for a few hours and make sure your dough is nice and chilled before placing it into the oven to bake.
Yes, make sure to place them in a well-sealed freezer container or airtight bag. Wrap each scone with wax paper before placing it in the bag. Do not place glaze or frosting on top of scones if placed into the freezer.
Yes, you can use any type of berries such as blueberry, raspberry, and even dried fruits like apricots and raisins. I recommend not putting too much blueberries since they do tend to burst while baking and become overwhelming. I love mixing dry fruits with this pumpkin scone recipe, like dried cranberries.
