These SUPER EASY Shredded Beef Shawarma Flavored Tacos with a Middle-Eastern flavor of Shawarma seasonings are blasting with an abundance of flavors and are so yummy! The best part about this taco recipe is the beef because it melts in your mouth and the sauce is out of this world! Especially how it pairs well with my homemade Tahini sauce sprinkled with fresh reddish, onions and cilantro. It hits the spot in so many ways!! I love this recipe so much because you can also create great burritos, quesadillas, and enchiladas along with a Shawarma wrap!
Last week, I was in limbo if I was craving a Shawarma wrap or a Shredded Beef Taco?! So, I decided to combine my two favorite recipes and it was a hit! Before I go on I have to say, it’s a delicious Beef taco with Shawarma flavors, it’s a must to try! Combining both was a great choice, it also paired well with the Tahini Sauce! Although some recipes spice their Shawarma with Sumac, Corriander, Cinnamon, and Nutmeg, we seasoned ours a little differently. I added Garlic Powder, Black Pepper, Paprika, Cumin, Alspice, and Corriander. Basically, the great part about this recipe is that you can find these seasonings at your local International and Mediterranean stores.
As I have mentioned above, this recipe is super easy to make, but all you need is some time to cook this recipe, it is a long process but well worth it at the end!
WHAT IS SHAWARMA?
Shawarma is a slow-cooked meat (chicken or beef) that is wrapped in a flatbread. It’s also popular in the Middle East and around the mid-east regions and it is the classic street food. Another key point, it is usually made with thinly sliced meat stacked vertically and cooked slowly on a rotating girl over a flame for hours.

What Makes The Beef So Tender?
Once you try out my recipe you will be amazed! Basically, the secret to making your beef tender is the process and what goes into it. Firstly, the type of meat you choose does make an impact. Another thing is I used Chuck Roast and noticed using this meat does make a big difference. Secondly, placing some baking soda with vinegar will maximize the tenderizing process! Lastly, leave it overnight or at least for a few hours to marinate. This will also help the tenderizing process.

STEPS TO MAKE THIS SHREDDED BEEF SHAWARMA TACOS
Step 1: Cut beef and marinate with everything listed under “Beef Marinate” ingredients. Seal the bowl and place it into the fridge for 2 hours or better yet, overnight.
Step 2: Afterward, sear meat on both sides in a light olive oil. This will trap all those flavors in the meat during the slow-cooking process. Place your seared meat back into the same pot and add your broth and ingredients to the meat. Make sure to keep the spice and oil droppings in the pot.
Step 3: Time to slow-cook your meat until it is tenderized and starts to shred. Basically, you can slow-cook your meat in the oven, stove-top, or by a pressure cooker. Meanwhile, as your meat is baking, you can prepare your Tahini Sauce.
Step 4: Prepare Tahini Sauce – Add Tahini, Lemon, Garlic, and Salt – combine together and place into the fridge to chill.
Step 5: As I have noted, your broth should have turned into an amazingly flavorful sauce, strain the beef and start shredding. Meanwhile, make sure to keep your sauce. Once shredded, dunk your tortillas quickly into the beef sauce and lightly coat both sides of your tortilla. Hence, this will bring in more of your beef flavors! Place on top of a rack about 1-2 tablespoons of shredded beef on your tortilla and fold over.
Step 6: Place tacos into the oven to bake until crispy. Then, place your toppings on tacos, drizzle your tahini Sauce, and Enjoy!
Note: You can also fry your tortillas instead of baking them, however frying them will come out extra crispy. Follow the same steps above and instead of placing them on a rack, place them in a lightly oiled pan and fry on both sides until browned.

Shredded Beef Shawarma Flavored Tacos
Ingredients
Beef Marinate
- 4 lbs Beef Chuck Roast – Angus Premium Choice
- 1 1/2 tablespoons Garlic Powder
- 1 tablespoon Black Pepper
- 1 tablespoon Salt
- 1 tablespoon Paprika
- 1 teaspoon Cumin
- 1 teaspoon Allspice
- 1 teaspoon Coriander
- 3 tablespoons Olive Oil
- 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
- 3 tablespoons White Distilled Vinegar
- 4 cloves crushed Garlic
Sauce Spices
- 32 oz Beef Broth
- 3 large Bay Leaves
- 1 teaspoon Pepper Corn
- 1/2 teaspoon Chili Flakes
- 1/2 tablespoon Salt
Tahini Sauce
- 1/2 cup Tahini
- 1/2 cup Lemon Juice
- 3 cloves Garlic
- 3–4 tablespoons Water
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
Toppings
- Limes
- Onions
- Raddish
- Tahini Sauce
Instructions
- Cut beef, combine your marinated spices, and crushed garlic spread and pat down to allow seasonings to stick to the meat and set in the fridge overnight or for a minimum of 2 hours.
- After marinating, place some oil into your pan and sear your meat until browned on both sides. Sear meat a few at a time and place them on a separate plate during this process. After you sear all your meat, place all of them back into the same pot.
- Add broth and sauce spices and combine together. Cover with lid and place in the oven for 3 hours at 400° and rotate the pot every hour.
- Remove the beef from the sauce and shred the beef. Dunk the corn tortilla into the sauce lightly, place some shredded beef on one side, and fold over the tortilla closed.
- Bake tacos for another 15-20 minutes until tortillas are crispy. Place your toppings on top and enjoy!
Notes
- Using a Dutch oven stone pot works well with this recipe because it retains more heat which makes the cooking process faster and better. Depending on what type of pot you use, the time might vary. After 2 hours make sure to check every 30 minutes thereafter to see if your meat has softened. You will know when your meat is ready when you see it fall apart when touched. If it hasn’t keep it in longer and cook for another 30 minutes or more.

This shawarma shredded beef was the most flavorful and unique flavored beef I have ever had.
I made it initially a few weeks ago and paired it with brown rice. Soo satisfying. The remainder of the leftover meat was frozen and we ate it tonight after warming it to make quesadillas. Added cheese, red onions and some bell peppers. Delicious!
Thank you Sylvia!
