FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: ZESTY BASIL SWISS PESTO BUNS
If you don’t want pesto sauce on top of the buns, you can brush garlic butter or egg wash with some milk which will give it a very shiny golden brown rich color to the top of the buns.
Over baking or keeping your bread out too long can dry them out, so don’t over bake and cover buns with its own plastic bag to keep it from drying out.
Place a piece of foil underneath your buns and leave about 2 inches of foil from the sides to be able to lift up and remove from the baking dish.
Make sure to cut the buns after it is cooked, this will allow it to not fall apart. Give it a few minutes before cutting into it.
Yes, it varies depending what you put inside which will keep your buns from staying airy and puffy. If you choose a tomato sauce make sure it’s not too watery. The tomato sauce tends to soak into the bread and make it heavy and soggy.
